the new bridge construction for increasing
the water flow in the Itajuru canal and
Araruama lagoon;

tidal flow to improve water quality in
Araruama lagoon by dredging

cubic meters of sediment from Itajuru
canal;
- Develop
a study to evaluate the removing of spit's
sediments by dredging to
improve the health of aquatic ecosystems (interrupt
the spit's growth process);

LAGOONS WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLAN

Monitor
the construction of sewage collection

and Jacarepiá
lagoons and adjacent basin;

Extend
the water supply system to Vilatur
Community in order to avoid overusing
groundwater resources (well);

the public control of illegal river water
extration in the mountains;

Monitor
the effects of saltwater input in the
Saquarema lagoon ecosystem due the recent
permanent connection with the sea (lagoon’s
bar stabilized by breakwaters)

MANAGEMENT PLAN

Wind
up the Lower São João River Recovery Project;
·
Conclude
the design of the Juturnaíba Dam Fishpass in
the channel of São João River;
·
Establish
the rules for Juturnaiba Dam operations in
order to improve
the health of lower São João River ecosystem;
·
Make
a study of Barra de São João and Rio das
Ostras Cities Water Supply System by using
water from Juturnaiba reservoir;
·
Carry
on the reforestation of the Bacaxá river
riparian zone;
·
Protect
the São João Montain forest;

COASTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN
- Collaborate
with “Project Orla” in order to
enhance the coastal ecosystems;
- Promote
discussion of oil and gas offshore
industry (exploration,
preparations, drilling and extraction);
- Support
the Economic-Ecological Zoning of the
coast;
- Support
the public control of overfishing and the
Fishing State Policy;

WATER QUALITY MONITORING PLAN
- Carry on the water quality program to assessment
and monitor the condition of Saquarema
and Araruama lagoons and the São João,
Bacaxá, Capivarí, Jundiá and Una rivers.

GARBAGE MANAGEMENT PLAN

the Solid
Waste Management Regional
Plan;

Encourage
a regional agreement between municipalities to
establish co-operative
landfills
management;

the Lagos - São João Watershed

with representatives from the government, the
water users, and the society;

the Watershed Management Plan draft;

Conclude
the inventory of the water uses;

study to establish a fee
for water uses in 2004;

CILSJ
will be the water basin agencies in support of
the basin committee;

the NGO’s Environmental Education Network;

the better use of CILSJ ecotrailer (school,
events);

Improve
the CILSJ website;

Publish
two books about “Buzios Cape and Una River
Basin” and “Saquarema, Jaaconé and
Jacarepiá Lagoons”;

Build
a Visitor Centre for information
about the CILSJ region,

Promote
a radio and TV educational campaign;

Conduct
a study to develop a policy for the design and
location of selected business, tourism,
community and public facility signs located on
road rights-of-ways.

"Coastal Zone" and " Saquarema Pond";
