The
CILSJ is seeking partners for establishing a long-term
international relationship. We need technical
cooperation to strengthen our capacity for
environmental management and to support sustainable
management of natural resources. Any cooperation forms
are welcomed.
We
have special interest in the following areas:
a)
River and Lake Recovery
CILSJ
would like to have 3 people trained in river recovery,
because Brazil has no experience in this field. We
want to be able to use practicable experiences to
avoid unnecessary mistakes. In addition, we need to
produce a guide on how to plan and implement a river
restoration project (in portuguese).
b)
Wetland
Recovery
and management wetlands. Man-made wetland do reduce
pollution in farms and small villages. Also a guide
on how to plan and implement a wetland restoration
project. CILSJ would like to have 1 person trained in
wetland management.
c)
Managing Agriculture Drains to Accommodate
Needs of Fish and Wildlife
We
have many drains in our region. So, a
guide
on how to manage drains to accommodate needs of fish
and wildlife is necessary. The guide must have: bioengineering techniques, natural channel design,
buffer strip development, retention ponds, and
sediment traps to create a reliable outlet for
farmland, protect against erosion, improve water
quality, offer improved habitat for fish and wildlife
and help to resolve conflicts between agriculture and
wildlife habitat.
Also a guide
on how to plan and implement a project. CILSJ would
like to have 3 people trained in this field.
d)
Farm Environmental Plan Guide (in portuguese)
We
need a guide to encourage every farmer to conduct
farming activities in a manner which respects the
environment, including key environmental issues:
erosion of top soil, structure of some farm soils,
soil organic matter, soil nitrates, phosphates,
livestock manure, milkhouse wash water, tile drainage
and irrigation, agricultural pesticides, commercial
fertilizers, efficiency of energy use in agriculture,
wildlife conservation, wetlands
and woodlots. CILSJ would like to have 3 people
trained in this field.
e)
Rural Septic Systems
A
guide with rural homes low-cost septic systems
technologies to treat household sewage. CILSJ would
like to have 1 person trained in this field.
